Quotes finally shared

I have a book I write quotes in that move me, I have been doing it for years and love to sit and read them.

After adding another to the book this morning I felt inspired to share them with you...... so sat down and started to create some to put in frames........What do you think?
Watch out for more x

Thrifty soup

STOP THROWING OUT YOUR LEFTOVER CHICKEN CARCASS.

I cooked a chicken on Sunday and as we all do had the bones / carcass left over.
I have always thrown it out...until this week. I have read how people made chicken stock from it, but to be honest could never be bothered and plus didn't really know if I would do anything with the stock afterwards.
But spurned on to be thrifty I thought Id give it a go. I put the bones in a big pan of water and left it to boil. I used a colander to get out the bones about an hour later.
I then threw in the left over liquid with a bit more added water, some left over new potatoes and a large carrot. I didn't scrape them or anything just chopped them up fine. I added a pinch of mixed herbs and some pepper and left it to cook down. When the veg was soft I mashed it slightly with a spoon.
OMG amazing soup, I will never buy a tin again!!! I had a deep bowl full and froze the rest. It's worth it.....don't throw them out.... get your moneys worth out of them bones!!!

Decopatched blue chair

Revamping with blue fabric and Decopatch

I actually found this chair in a skip full of paint and unloved...... Awh.
So I asked the skip owners if I could have it....somwhat bemused they agreed and I took it home.

To recover a chair seat is so easy you just pop out the pad that you sit on and staple gun your new fabric over the old one pulling it tight as you staple.

Then I went to work with the decopatch. tearing the papers into small squares I glued and stuck to my hearts content.

I love the finished result ....do you?

Its totally transformed the chair and it only cost me around three pounds as I already had the fabric in my stash!!!

Determined to Rag Rug

I've made lots of hooked rugs in the past and even tried doing the plaited ones (unsuccessfully I'm afraid it looked like a cone!)

I had already cut strips up from a red onesie that I have to confess that I had retrieved from the end of a car boot sale.

The plastic zip had broken and the previous owner had left it under her table as she couldn't be bothered throwing it away.

However the fabric was a lovely colour and drew me and my sticky fingers to rescue it and refashion it into something else.....a rug!!

I plaited away one evening and started sewing them together taking a lot longer than I imagined however with hindsight perhaps sewing on ones lap and not on a flat surface does not help and a lovely hat or bowl was created instead.

But I'm a determined crafter and I hate waste so I pull it all back and search my beloved You tube and found how to complete a Knotted Amish rug.

So whilst sat after tea..... Ive messed....as my Chris puts it and after a couple of hours have the raw basis for my knotted rug. I'm really quite thrilled though I had learnt my lesson from the last one and got out my little folding table to lean on this time.

Feels so nice underfoot and not bad for a first try....so I will keep knotting and hopefully you will see a finished article soon.

Look what we made !!!!

Let me tell you the gossip x

So what a roller coaster ride my life has been!!! I've been busy making....... though it's not exactly the crafting that I usually do!

Alixandra Iris Leigh Lovatt was born 24th September 2014, a bouncing 8lb and 7oz and born with a full head of dark brown hair.

Now at 4 weeks she is beginning to smile and can hold her head up a treat.

Another daughter to add to my brood she has fitted right in!!! I'm very lucky to have three other little mummys to help and I'm sure Alix will love and learn from each of them. Elizabeth the piano, flute and her love of writing. Caroline to dance, sing, fashion and boys! Olivia to climb walls and trees and be a social butterfly!!

My lovely Chris looked after me every step of the way, even getting the chance to lifting her onto my chest when she was just born.I couldn't have done it without him x

I was lucky enough to be bought a lovely phone just before she was born with a camera on (as my old black nokia didn't even have a camera) and I've taken loads .....but now I can't get them to download on my computer to share.... so its back to the trusty camera!!

So now I'm off on Maternity leave and moneys extra tight... if it wasn't already! So it's now or never....... Fay get crafting and more importantly selling! Watch this space!!
